Yeah, I quit all the time. You understand the psychological addiction as well? I can quit for a while, but it seems like I'm always NOT smoking. I'll just be sitting there watching my son play in the yard and think "I would normally be smoking right now?" then all I can think about is cigarettes, after that makes me crazy for a while then I settle down.

I've done the gum, the lozenge, tried chewing tobacco, tried mint chew, started running again, did the patch (which irritated my skin, and made my nearest muscle hurt), done deep breathing, went to a sweat lodge, only smoked pot (which wasn't a good idea), got support from the state Quit Line, delivered home oxygen (which is a real eye opener), I've cried to God to help me stop, yet as I sit hear, I'm smoking an American Spirit (the blue pack).

Good Luck

in my deepest withdrawls I rationalize by saying, "I'd rather die from lung cancer than go another ******* second without a goddamn cigarette!!!"

First off, Let me say Way to go! I know how hard this can be, I have smoked since I was 14 and I just put my first patch on today! So far, so good. Allthough I have been wanting a smoke BADLY!

My husband quit last year with the patches, and he did great. He used this spray stuff for the mouth that was soposed to help with cravings, it did.

I am going through LOTS of candy and gum. LOL

If I come up with anything else, I will be sure to share it with you. Good luck! Just remember, you can do this. And it helps to have a buddy to encourage you that you are doing good.

YOU CAN DO IT. I can't yell that loud enough. I smoke for 20 years and quit six years ago with the help of that patch.

You put your patch on, and it will reduce that nicotine "rush" when you're feeling a strong urge. Take some deep breaths and remember that you ARE getting some nicotine, just not through inhaling.

One day at a time. I really, really wanted to quit but just couldn't shake that physical addiction. The step-down patch helped me do it. Hey, by the way, once you kick it, you honestly will forget it. With time, you won't even believe you were ever a smoker! That sounds like bull, but it's true. I know you can do it....

Hang in there! I won't lie, it will be tough, but it's worth it. My mom quit after 20+ years of smoking and now has been smoke-free for five years.

You need to avoid whatever triggers you to want a smoke. Don't take your breaks with your smoking buddies at work. Don't have any cigs around. Learn something new to do with your hands - or start chewing gum.

Hang in there & best of luck!!!

My suggestion to you if you are at all serious about this is not to buy cigarettes, not to bum them off of friends , co-workers, etc. Stick w/it no matter how bad you want to light up... Chew gum, suck on a toothpick or even put a cig in your mouth but never light it... you will never repair the damage you've done to your lungs... and the earlier you quit the better. You will taste better, you will sleep better as I am sure you have asthma or some related breathing issue... Best of luck to ya..

I am quitting the day after tomorrow. I am using the new drug Chantix and I have heard good things about it. Also, go to the website quitnet.org, it is full of helpful hints and you can get a lot of support there. For the bad cravings, bite into lemon or orange slices.
