Nearly every state has confidentiality for STD's and pregnancy issues. Call your local health department and they will tell you what your local laws are.
A PAP smear doesn't automatically show the presence of an STD, but if you are sexually active, there are other things you must be tested for. You absolutely have to be honest with your physician, and this should be confidential. If you must go with a parent, call in advance and explain your concerns to the doctor or the nurse, or if necessary, slip them a note explaining this. You should be allowed to see the doctor without a parent present.
However, I'd like to urge you to be honest with your mom. It's far better in the long run. If you do have an STD, you need treatment ASAP.

A Pap tests for cancer, not STDs. However, if you think you may have an STD then I would talk to your MD at the appointment. Be smart, and be safe. You should always be using condoms and be familiar with your partner. You are obviously young. If you don't know common sense you shouldn't be having sex. Get educated and you wouldn't need to worry.

most offices will have you fill out a form on how they contact you to let you know of the results, go with what makes you feel comfortable. About std's from a pap, i think the answer is yes but that should be a question to ask, i have an appointment tomorrow as well. Blessings!

a stable well being care expert has following factors.. *His social or communique skills with the sufferers which constitutes the two verbal and non-verbal (physique language) communique...As our occupation is a community provider. *He could be a place type (a doctor who tells his/her sufferers to offer up smoking should not be considered smoking outdoors the well being center 5 minutes after the affected person leaves.. the place's the intergrity in this top?) *He could have the skill to talk in a fashion the affected person is conscious (no longer likely off on the properties of amino acids... etc. etc) as this would come out as conceitedness *He, ideally could stick to up on his sufferers ... supply them telephone calls to work out how they're doing *The well being care expert could be prepared to instruct!!... this is going alongside happy with preventive well being care. The well being care expert could supply the sufferers the fishing rods, quite than the fish. If a doctor is conscious a thank you to instruct his/her affected person what to do and what to no longer do, the well being care expert could have the skill to help the affected person replace his way of existence for the extra useful so as that the affected person would not would desire to maintain coming back. *>And final yet no longer the least he would desire to be clever, as much as date, And maximum Of all ethical. You're cool. Unless you're young enough to where they think that the only way you could have contracted something is through molestation, you're secrets are safe. Make sure they know that your sexual activity is consensual. However, if you do have one, the treatment for it will show up on your mom's insurance. Next time, make an appointment at Planned Parenthood. Free and confidential.

no, they will not tell your mom (or they shouldn't tell your mom) no guarantees though if they voilate your confidence...
a pap smear is to scrape the cervical os with a spatula and send off the tissues to see if you have atypical cells consistent with cervical cancer
a culture series will take specimens and send thme to the lab to check for infection.
if you do have an STD, they may want to check your blood to make sure you didn't contract HIV, Hep B or C.
good luck...please try to remember your partner to wear a condom...because HE wouldn't want to get something from you, either. Also, it is so hard to say goodby to a young person who has AIDS that they got from unprotected sex.

No they do not test for STD with a pap test. A pap test just tests for abnormal cerivcal cells. If you think you might have an STD you need to ask the doc to run tests for STD's.

if you think you have a std tell the dr befor and he will test you. the dr cannot tell your parents anything you do not want them to tell them due to confidentiality between a pt and dr. so tell mom you want to go in yourself and explain everything to your dr. it is better than allowing mom in and letting a little thing get big. remember the dr can't tell.

They will call you and have you come in for an appointment if you have one. Legally they can't tell your parents unless they are in the room with you. You need to let them know you do not want your parents to know to enforce the fact. If you are embarrassed by it, you'll have to suck it up and deal with it, because it is your body, and doctors are used to talking about sensitive and icky things and will understand your concern for your health and privacy.
