Please do not do that. You run a very great risk of causing your cat's retinas to degenerate and the cat to go blind. Cats do need certain things that can only be obtained properly from meat. Cats could care less about politics. If you love your cats please don't cause them needless suffering. Check this website.

I didn't see the original question and search isn't working right now but it *is* possible to have cats thrive on a vegan diet if you obtain the correct vegan cat foods.

Please peruse the links below!

Cats are almost 100% carnivores. Everything, from their dietary needs to their teeth, reflects this. Making your cat a vegan is prescribing a (short) lifetime of misery for your cat.
Your cat will resort to eating any insects or small animals it can find. Would you rather your cat eat dried cat food or houseflies?
If all animals were intended to be vegetarians no animals would eat other animals. To think that carnivorous animals (cats, dogs, owls, bears, whatever) can exist as vegans without massive nutritional intervention is just plain stupid.

I'm a vegetarian and have researched this myself. The answer across the board is a resounding 'NO', as cats, unlike people, have to have meat in their diet in order to survive and be healthy.

It wasnt me...but I agree with you.

as, I am a vegetarian and I have three cats...and, know that cats need meat...
I feed my cats the best cat food, and give them flax seeds every other day...they do not go outside, but have all access to look outside our home to see woodlands..very happy cats

I agree completely. people are idiots to think cats or dogs could live a HEALTHY life on a vegan or vego diet. These creatures are supposed to be carnivorous.
