this only happens when i walk or run OUTSIDE (usually in shorts or a skirt) but when i'm walking for a long time especially if it's cold, my legs (thighs especially) start itching like crazy? I eat pretty healthy and don't have a family history of diabetes. could this just be poor circulation

How will I know if I have diabetes?

Diabetes often has no symptoms or warning signs. The only way to be sure is to have your blood tested for glucose (blood sugar). If symptoms do appear, they might include:

Feeling tired
Feeling irritable
Urinating more than normal
Being very thirsty
Being very hungry
Unexplained weight loss
Blurred vision

If you are experiencing some of these symptoms or think that you might be at risk for diabetes, be sure to talk to your doctor about getting tested.

Itching in cold weather has nothing to do with diabetes. You skin is getting dry out in the cold weather and starts to itch. This is normal and is not poor circulation. Kee your legs covered if you can when outdoors in cold weather and be sure to use lotion on your legs to keep the skin soft.

It has to do with circulation. You just need to exercise more often and cover you legs for warmth.

It's when you come into a warm place, that the itching starts.
I'm very sure that is not a sign of diabetes.

I would sugguest you go to your doc and get tested but in the meantime, if your wearing nylon stockings then stop wearing them, and see if this fixes the problem.
I can wear them as long as I am standing around doing nothing, but if I sit, or start walking, they make my legs itch like they have ants crawling over them, its just a reaction to the nylon.
Try a heavy duty moisturizer on them aswell.
Hope this helps

That does not sound like diabetes. Probably dry skin. Diabetes symptoms are frequent urination, thirsty all the time, and being more tired than you use to be.

This doesn't sound like diabetes. Sounds like just some sort of reaction to the cold, or movement. It could be psychosomatic. But if you are really worried you should see your doctor. Happy New Year!!!

probably poor circulation. taking the right vitamins can sometimes help build good blood vessels that promote healthy circulation. Check with your dr. He/she would know for sure.

This condition does not relate to diabetes. You may be hypersensitive to the cold or your thighs may be rubbing together when you walk or run causing skin irritation.Wear track pants and see if your condition improves.
