In this country yet abroad in lands such as Iraq we look in vain for basic British West Country Cuisine such as Pork Scratchings, Bacon, Hook Norton Ales, Scrumpy Cider. Is this failure to introduce fine English foods to the Arab palate a cause of the present friction between races.

With all due respect to our American Cousins, there is a world of difference between a 1.2 decigramme flame grilled gristle burger and a Cornish Pastie and let us not forget american beer has to be served at a temperature such that taste buds freeze to make it palatable whereas Cider or Indeed Hook Norton Ale is delicious at any temperature

I don't think pork and alcohol will take off in Arab states for some reason, but you can give it a try.
Also I thing we sought out those cuisines as a change from our own and it was not a case of them being introduced.
English breakfast is known through out the world so well done there.
Most of the friction is Arab on Arab and has nothing to do with us. We just happen to be in the way.

To begin with, some of the foods that you have mentioned are or contain pork products, so they will NEVER be welcomed in any muslim country or in any muslim home, no matter where that home may be.
These foods are what you've grown up with, and as such they are your comfort foods, but around the world, most people find British foods and British recipes to be quite bad, heavy and tasteless. In other words, to most of the world, there simply is no such thing as "fine English foods". That's one reason that other ethnic cuisines have found a home in Britian.
And no, the lack of ENglish foods in the moslem world has nothing to do with the present conflicts. In fact, the opposite is far more likely to be true - that attempts to introduce English foods, as a part of a different culture, are a part of the present friction.
The very least that you can do is to respect that others have different cultures and cuisines and that in many cases they have reasons for this, reasons that are crucial to their lives.

because alot of people from different countries immigrate to the U.S and to my knowledge, Iraq isn't getting alot of immigrants at this time because of its instability. When people move to a new country, you often look for your ethnic food and some open up restaurants to share their cuisine with others. If you looked at the ethnicities you just listed, we have alot of those people in the U.S. so it only makes sense. Iraq doesn't have that yet. We also have more money than Iraq so we can afford to import more.

praps cos most people find British food a bit rubbish! lol I don't think they sell English food anywhere in the world. But maybe we could introduce it, they may all fancy some Scrumpy and then they could worry about their stomachs rotting instead of the war = )
