so you developed "moon face". as we dont know your condition we cannot give you any serious advice, this must come from the gp that prescribe the steroids. Swelling and bloated swimmy feelings can remain localised but unless there's a GP on here your best bet is to search the web for consolence.

Not necessarily. The reason you put on weight is from all the swelling, and and increase in appetite, but if you're only on it for a short period of time it may not affect your weight. I think that ppl that are on steroids for long periods of time are the ones that gain weight. It is only a POSSIBLE side effect. That doesn't mean that it WILL happen. Hope this helps.

No, you may be one of the fortunate ones who can maintain your normal weight, the moon face doesn't mean you will eventually put on weight. From my experience the weight gain seems to be more dose related, along with fluid retention that steroids often cause.
When you have a strong urge to eat, chewing on veggies, even with dip is much better than loading up on carbs. I think the carbs can add to the fluid retention problem.

my daughter is asthmatic and she takes prednisolone when she is very wheezy. She is 12 and since the age of four she has taken steroids when she needs them. She has not put on weight. you have to take an awful lot of steroids for quite a long time for that to happen. You might get more hungry than usual but that is it.I hope this helps you in any way.

I have respiratory problems C.O.P.D., and was given a course of prednisilone, 5mg x 6 - 30mg per day.. you are only usually prescribed them for a reasonably shortish period, then weaned off. Yes i did put weight on, but the benefits did by far outweigh the inconvenience, and believe me the weight does come back off fairly quickly and easily, with little or no exertion. After all said and done, with my condition i am physically incapable of exercise, so, don`t worry !

Steroids generally make you hungry which is why you put on weight. Most people who are on steroids are constantly hungry. If you don't have this side effect, good for you. Just because you're taking them doesn't mean that you will gain weight.

As you taper off the steroids, the moon face, weight will go away. It is not a permanent side effect.

My daughter is often on Prednisolone , only side effect was her hair became very thick &healthy not a bad side effect eh!!
