It'd be nice, I think they should be.

Vet school requires animal dissection and testing, which goes against animal rights, but think about it in this sense: How would you feel if you took your cat to the vet, the vet said poor little kitty needed surgery, and when the cat got on the operating table, the vet said, "WHOA! So that's what it looks like inside a cat!"

You would immediately freak out and take your cat to someone who knew what he was doing. For that animal testing and dissection, a few animals were sadly killed, but millions more will be saved.

I think vets are great and I admire they care for animals. I wish their care stretched to ALL animals (you don't eat dogs, so why eat pigs?), but not all vets do.

Not all of them. Some of them have actually sold themselves out and inspect meat for cash. If a Vet really loved animals then he/she would be vegetarian. Perhaps its a good question to ask your vet. If they eat meat, then dont trust him/her. He/She may be a hypocrite. Its kind of like the doctors some countries hire just to torture people!

Not necessarily, no. Actually, studying to become one often contradicts the beliefs of the animal-friendly--animal testing is often the way they go. Not all schools use this, but many do.
