It can be for the woman

It can be painful for the woman. Inside the vagina, there is a thin barrier of tissue called the hymen which is broken during the first occurrence of sexual intercourse. Pain ranges for women--some might not experience hardly any pain at all, while for others it may be excruciating. There also might be some slight bleeding. The important thing is that both parties should be gentle with each other.

Sex only gets better with practice!

If a young woman isn't ready for the experience, her anxiety will make her tighten up and her partner will either be impatient and force things along...or he'll wait and keep trying until he breaks the hymen.

If a guy isn't ready for the experience, he'll ejaculate too soon and be embarrassed to the point of physical pain...

If two virgins (one male, one female) have sex with each other for the first time, it will be painful for the girl because the guy doesn't know what he's doing and it will be painful for the guy because the girl will tighten up because she's in pain.

If everybody's ready, it will hurt the woman the first time (depending upon the elasticity of her hymen), but it won't hurt the guy (unless he's with an older woman with "dry" vagina).

for a woman, the first experience having intercourse can be discomforting to pain. one way to deal with this possibility is for the male to enter the vagina very slowly, without use of force.
it's not uncommon for a female to experience bleeding on this occasion. often, a woman reports soreness for a short period of time after first having sex.
for a man, the first experiece is not painful at all. what could be painful, however, it the possibilty of not being able to obtain and maintain a potent erection. that, for me, would be a painful, embarrassing ordeal.

I don't think it is ever painful for a man, but usually the woman will feel a little pain.

speaking from the woman's point of view yes it hurts the first time but if the man is kind and considerate it lessens the pain but most men aren't

Im not too sure about the man, but everyone is different. It could hurt for me, not for you. No one is to tell except for you. I would suggest waiting until you are ready though. Make sure you are in a commited relationship. There are so many STDS out there... not to mention pregnancy.

not usually for guys wasnt for me,- for women the hymen plays a big part in pain an when it comes to tearing of that skin im sure it does hurt. somewomen who use tampons can tear their own hymen upon their first few insertions of the tampons depending on their own unique physical anatomy. i do imagine that tearing is very painfull

I've never really heard that it's painful for men. But for women it is because the hymen is being broken during intercouse.
