When you buy a veggie burger or veggie pizza, what is your impact on the meat industry? Does it decrease due to the competition from vegetarian fast food? Or does the increased profit (due to your purchase of fast food) help the company buy even more meat?

PS: I mean when you buy it from a fast food outlet like BK or Pizza Hut, not the grocery store.

However much cash the company gets, they are are still only going to order stock in accordance with demand. So they'll only replenish their meat stock depending on how much has sold. For them to order more meat, they have to have sold it and created that void to be filled. However much money they get, they aren't going to order extra for the sake of it!

So buying a veggie pizza at Pizza Hut is only going to create gaps in their veggie stock. The branch's meat order should remain completely unaffected by us.

Having said that, the more money we give to these companies, the more they have to invest in developing and marketing new menu items, which could include meat. But remember also, you are creating a demand for veggie food, and the more of that we order, the more likely their profits will go to fund a bigger proportion of veggie friendly foods. It's up to you how you feel this balances out.

one burger won't make much difference. how about an analogy of having all americans purchasing only veggie burgers and pizzas? demands and supplies. demands go down, supplies go up. when there are abundance, the price goes down. so when veggie burger is in high demand, demand for meat by the fastfood companies would fall. when the meat company wants to ensure that meat could sell, they would lower the price of the meat. competition for the survival of meat industries would result in low prices of meat. american consumers could enjoy meat at a cheaper price.
BUT. this won't happen. prices are carefully controlled to prevent inflation. if not our economy would be very unstable.

I think it increases the demand for vegetarian options. This is actually very important, because the more vegie pizzas/burgers they sell, the more they'll put them on the menu, and the easier it will then be for new people to go vegetarian in future.

Not being able to dine out easily with friends and family is a big disincentive for many people who are thinking about going veg, so reducing it is essential.

Seeing vegie options on the menu also serves as a constant reminder to everyone that dishes without meat can be just as tasty and satisfying as the animal-based ones.

Similarly, if vegetarians were obliged only ever to eat out in vegetarian restaurants (and shop in exclusively vegetarian supermarkets etc.), that would be extremely impractical and few people would make the effort.

Basically, the only reason factory farms and their indisputable cruelty exist is because people pay for the dead animals. So the only way to get rid of them is to encourage people not to pay for them, not to eat meat. And for this to happen, it needs to be practical and easy for people to eat out. And for this to happen, there need to be vegie options around. And for this to happen, fast food joints need to make a profit from their vegie options. So we should all support vegetarian options when we eat out! :-)

buying something in the fastfood with vegetarian products helps the enviroment even more. in a way, these products are like environment friendly and can barely harm it's factors. for an instance, when you raise poultry(chicken, pig, cow), you also damage the environment because you have their waste. you turn large agricultural lands into factories that chops meat which have machines that need water to cool off. when disposing the water, some dispose it in the nearby rivers which contains serious and harmful substances that can kill humas.

do u feel me?

um...what kind of impact??? well, if i bought a vegie dish at a fast food reasturant on the daily bases (or any other often bases) that would mean one less meat dish needed. when there is one less meat dish needed at a nation wide scale that would mean less animals being murdered.
