Since the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide in your lungs has slowed, chronic cough, severe chills, and trembling will be a common thing. Please seek medical attention and ask your doctor what methods of treatment are available for you. I would advise you not to drive at all. It's too dangerous - for you and for others on the road. You have a chronic lung disease and thus can develop infections and pneumonia quite quickly. I found this list of herbal medications online if you would like to try something different:
Ephedra(Mahuang)6g, Cinnamon Twig(Guizhi)9g, Gypsum(Shengshigao)30g, Bitter Apricot Kernel(Xingren)9g, Trichosanthes Seed (Gualouren)18g, Sichuan Fritilary Bulb(Chuanbaimu)9g, Licorice root(Gancao) 6g

Again, please do not let this continue without speaking to your doctor, and do not take any supplements without his knowledge. An absolutely wonderful thing to try would be acupuncture. I have had friends rave about it.

Most importantly, if you are still smoking you NEED to stop to save your own life. I am so sorry you have to suffer through this terrible disease. I hope you get immediate treatment, and I wish you lots of happiness and prosperity in the new year. All the best to you.

My mom has emphysema and never smoked a day in her life. I believe it was second hand smoke that caused it! I asked her if she ever had anything like this and she hasn't. Sounds as if you're shaking is totally unrelated to the respiratory condition. It could be anything from a seizure to any other type of neurological disorder. You really ought to seek advice from your doctor, and quickly - it sounds dangerous to you and others on the road with you.
Good luck!!

Some babies just do that, Its like theyre getting overly excited. As long as the baby is developing 'normally' I wouldnt worry about it. Now if he starts doing it on a regular basis, i.e. all the time not just when he's excited, that's when I would ask the dr about it.

I have severe COPD (emphysema) and I have never experienced what you are talking about. I am in COPD support groups and I have never heard anyone speak of your condition.

It is happening on a regular basis which should tell a doctor something and you always have the same symptoms. I would have run to my doctor when the SECOND one hit me. Whatever it is, you need immediate help........You need to see your doctor when you are having one of these, whatever it is. He can check your vitals and other things in order to determine what you have.

This is very interesting. I would like to know what it is...........

It sounds like you either have pneumonia or epilepsy and I think you would know if you had that. You need a chest X-ray for pneumonia.
