No. Never. Unless the host of the party asks you to take it with you.
OR if you have to return the keg to the place you picked it up from.

I think it depends on the party. If it is a "BYOB" kind of party than I feel the alcohol is yours and if you want to take it you can. If you brought it over say as a small gift like a nice bottle of wine, it seems to me that it belongs to the host or hostess. I have brought a 12 pack of beer or a bottle of something to a party and no one touched it so I didn't feel too bad taking it. I also knew the host so it wouldn't come back as being cheap. I have left alcohol before because I didn't know the people and you can get a reputation as being cheap if you take it. If you don't know them and don't care what they think about you than take it. I think it comes down to what you can live with as far as what anyone will say about you. Will this come back to hurt your reputation and do you care? Having said all that, If you are looking for a blanket answer, I think it best to leave it in almost all situations. Good Luck and Happy New Year!!

It sure isn't OK here ... we have an open container law that says if you carry opened liquor in your car, you get ticketed.
Open Container Laws:
Prohibit both possession of any open alcoholic beverage container and consumption of any alcoholic beverage.
Cover the passenger area of any motor vehicle, including unlocked glove compartments and any other areas of the vehicle that are readily accessible to the driver or passengers while in their seats.
Apply to all open alcoholic beverage containers and all alcoholic beverages, including beer, wine, and spirits that contain one-half of one percent or more of alcohol by volume.
Apply to all vehicle occupants except for passengers of vehicles designed, maintained or used primarily for the transportation of people for compensation or the living quarters of motor homes.
Apply to all vehicles on a public highway or the right-of-way of a public highway.

Only if you're under 23 or thereabouts, and it was a BYOB party. That sort of thing is fine among a group of students having a casual (and BYOB) thing, where everybody understands everybody else being broke, but at any other point in your life or at any other sort of party -- don't, please.

No, it would be considered by most to be very rude. Plus as others have pointed out it is illegal to have open alcohol in your auto.

If the party is specified BYOB, then by all means take it with you, if the party is not BYOB I think it's a little tacky to take it when you leave

Just leave it. You can always buy more. Driving with open alcohol is illegal nation wide, even if you aren't drinking.

Yes, as long as no one tries to claim it or tries to get into a fight over it. If it is your alcohol, I don't see why you can't take the unused portion home.
