Take a lot of Vitamin C. You can pick it up anywhere. And drink hot tea... You will be over it in no time.

Drink plenty of fluids, get plenty of rest and take paracetamol for pain and vitamin c for healing.

Time is your healer at the moment.

Use your voice as little as possible during the week and just before your event start practicing then and only a little.
The more you use your voice the worse the sore throat gets.

You can often sing with a cold and sound reasonable but if you have a raspy sore viral throat you'll find it will show more, so staying off it with less practice is better as an end result.

Try listening to your music in the meantime instead to keep familiar your song/s.

Take 4 ounces of White Vinegar or Apple Cider Vinegar into a glass.

Add One Table Spoon of Salt.

Stir and gargle every two hours. Do not drink any liquid for 1/2 hour after gargling.

The Acetic Acid [5%] in the Vinegar will clean out the Pus Pockets that are causing the soar throat and the Salt will dry them up.

Use this remedy for 3-days. If you sore throat continues after that time, SEE A REAL MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL, i.e. Doctor!

Thanks, RR

My friends swear by gargling with peroxide... I haven't tried it and I don't know the effects on a singing voice, but that's what they tell me. They do it every time they get the start of a sore throat and they say it kills it. So, I hope that helps. PS - Don't swallow and be ready for the bubbles - might cause the gag reflex. Also don't do it often - it kills bacteria, both good and bad.

This is bound to get you good and healthy by tomorrow night. Get a glass 1/2 full of lukewarm water. Put in about 5 tbs of SALT. Stir for a few minutes. 'Gurgle it'.. yep, thats right. Tastes BAD but it ALWAYS WORKS. Just try not to swallow it.

Put some in your mouth, tilt ur head back and guurrrrgle. It kills all the bacteria in your throat (due to ph change.. and also it sucks out all the water in the bacteria cells since the fluid surrounding the cells is less dilute than inside, and it therefoe dies)

Try it now! :D If it doesn't work, try the doctors'... If it works, pick me as best answer ;D

two tricks that i learned when i sang in choir:

1. gargle lemon juice. you may want to dilute it with a little water; but not too much b/c then it wont do any good.

2. mix equal parts of water, hydrogen peroxide, and mouthwash. the peroxide is what really helps your throat. the water takes away some of the sting, and the mouthwash makes it taste a little better.

Dont' try lemon and honey. Keep your mouth clean by brushing and flossing. Do not use throat sprat avoid alcohol, sugar and acidic foods. Eat lots of veggies high in vitamin C.

Clean mouth = less bacteria = faster healing
vitamins = immune boost

Try those menthol throat lozenges. They're pretty good, especially the Sugar free Mountain Menthol ones from Halls. That...and make sure to drink a lot of water to flush the phlem from your throat.

Gargle salt water, and make sure to drink lots of water. You may be slightly dehydrated.

Good luck!
