Looking for the name and recipe for something that looked similar to an arrancini ball, but it was made with mashed potato, other ingredients (no rice in it), shaped in a ball and deep fried. It was served with a Tumarind sauce. Anyone know the name or have recipe?

It is called aloo tikki, where aloo= potato, tikki= a ball/disc shaped snack.

It is different from a pakora because a pakora is a slice of potato which is wrapped in gram flour / corn flour and then deep fried.

An aloo tikki is just a ball of mashed potato with some seasoning (I use garam masala, red chilli powder and powdered cummin seeds, with salt to taste) and maybe green peas, it is pressed slightly between both palms (of your hands, I meant). You can give it a thin roll in bread- crumbs if you wish, so that it does'nt break when you leave it in oil.
