You CAN, but do you really want to?
Your body needs to save it's energy resources for killing an army of infection. It's best to wait till you've recovered. Also the guy on the next stairmaster probably doesn't want to go home with a new sinus infection anyway.

The energy put into the workout is actually needed by a taxed immune system during an infection. The advice that I heard throughout my nursing career was not to work out during a bug for that reason.

My sister is a trainer and her rule of thumb is that head colds/ sinus infections are okay to work out with, as long as you don't have a fever and are maintaining fluids. Don't work out when you have stomach problems, like vomiting or diarrhea. You'll get dehydrated. If you start to feel dizzy or weak, stop. You can also modify your routine if you're a little run down.
