selling it or junking it are two options that you are gonna have to decide on your own. i would recomend keeping it. if you go and buy a new car you would most likely bay around 400 a month for the damn thing and if you can afford to pay that then you might as well just upgrade the car you have now. nissan makes a good long lasting performance oriented motor and the bolt on upgrades for your car (intake, exhaust, etc,) are relatively inexpensive. if you put 400$ a month into your 99 maxima you could be making around 300hp in just a few months. check out these sites and you will be amazed at what you can do to that car to get the performance you desire in a short period of time.

It is getting ready to give major problems, and if it was me, I would certainly consider trading it in on a much faster vehicle, if you have a need for speed, like I do. I'm gettin on up in age, but I still love burning the tires right off the rims. There is no other smell in the world that takes the place of burning rubber, and there is no other thrill better than driving a car that will blister the pavement. Axe the max, and you will be glad you did. My son has a pretty new Acura, and that thing will fly, and he didn't have to do anything to it to make it go that fast. Yes, there is some competition going on with the cars now, and most all of them will get-er-done straight from the show room to the drag strip.
Glad I could Help, Good Luck!!!

You want speed you do not buy a sedan. Maxima is a good car and performs very well in its class. If you have taken care of your car the right way it should be good for 10 years so you may or may not be ready to get rid of it. So start looking for a higher HP car shop around make a choice. Nissan is no longer Nissan and do not have much good to say for them since they are basically renault. I was a die hard Nissan lady. I raced them owned them and would never give them up. Well I own a Z71 Tahoe now. I still have a z but it is a real Z. And would not give them a penny for the 350zx or the infiniti which is the same car with a higher price tag.

Your Maxima does 0-60 mph in 6.6 seconds. I don't care if it is just a big sedan with 8 years on it now, that is FAST!

The reason it is fast is due to the 205 ft-lbs of torque. 190 hp might not seem like a lot, but 190 hp with 205 ft-lbs for a car that weights just a hair over 3000 lbs is good.

Think of it in terms of speed or acceleration for the money. The older Max is still a great car. Keep it.

I work for Nissan and bought a New 2006 pontiac GTO with 400 hp and 400#ft torque six speed manual. Exhaust, cold air air filter system Dyno engine reprograming stiffer sway bars short throw shifter. Now almost 421 at the rear wheels and 426 # ft torque. Just about the most powerfull thing that is still driveable on the street. And smog legal too!

Is your question should I sell it?
That is a personal question. Do you need more? I dont think so but more horsepower is more gas and more at the pump. I would be moving down in size but you need the male factor. You must be single and dont think there is global warming.

Yep, you should keep it as second car in case you ever need an extra car and go get a Ford Mustang or a new nissan altima.
