Spitfire XIX reconnaissance version: fastest of all the wartime Spitfires with a speed of nearly 748 km/h (460 mph)
The Bf 109 K-4 was the fastest 109 of WWII reaching ~715 km/h (445 mph)

But it does matter, that is, the Model and "mark number" of the early Spitfire Mk 1/11 had a top speed of approx. 350-65mph based on altitude. ME109's had a higher top speed, at higher altitudes. (battle of the two was above 25,000ft). Later marks of Spitfires had a top speed approaching 475MPH, and in a dive, approached Mach 1. Later versions of ME109s , fitted with Water-injected high horsepower engines, could exceed 450mph for short bursts. Look into any web site, just enter in either Spitfire or ME109, or aircraft of the Luftwaffe in WW2, you can get much information. (to get speed divide by .6 for Kph).
good luck
