It depends on the alcohol content. In a typical beer (5%) should be drunk instantly. But in high level spirits (35-40%) they can be opened and drunk many years later as long as they have been stored in a cool dry place with a tightly sealed cap. Wine's on the other hand should be drank within 3 days as the longer it is exposed to oxygen the more likely it is to end up tasting like vinegar.

Plain alcohol like vodka and whiskey can keep practically forever. Drinks like Baileys don't keep as well because of the cream, but they do keep a long time. Don't know a specific time limit on those, they move fast!

Alcohol dissipates quite quick. It is usually flat after a few hours.

honestly never had to worry myself. beer or any carbonated drink once opened is going to go flat in short time, so drink it or dump it.
wine will turn to vinegar but takes a long time . keep tightly sealed and refridgerated, should last till i get there. don't throw away, use for oil & vinegar salad dressing or other cooking uses.
whiskey ?.............gets better with time don't it ?.......hic......
