No no Not me - my friends husband has recently killed himself and she is asking me questions and I am trying to answer tactfully so as to not hurt her feelings. I was hoping there would be something I could draw upon from other cultures in answering her questions.

James Van Prague states that the soul of the person will be suspended between the earth in a limbo until it was his natural time to die and would see all the things that will eventuate in his life had he been on earth like a rerun of his life and death. It was pretty awful and quite a few spiritualists appear to believe in this concept thats why I wanted different points of view.

As a spiritualist medium I don't believe James Van Prague's theory of suicide. I read this a couple of years ago and was horrified that he had written this. As I understand it from the spiritworld those who have committed suicide (that is ended their earthly life sooner than had been decided before the reincarnation) go back to spiritworld just the same as any other soul. However, they do go to a separate place where they receive healing and come to terms with what they have done and why. You have to remember that those who commit suicide are troubled souls and not thinking straight. The souls which are in limbo between earth and spirit are those who have perhaps passed tragically and don't believe they have left the earthly life and those who have committed such crimes they are afraid to return to spirit for fear of what will be waiting for them. I have asked my Guides about your friend's husband and I am told he is 'safe' which means he reached spiritworld. I am also told he is 'convalescing' there. I hope you can reassure her that he is ok now. God Bless x

I don't know why so many religious opinions that the suicides are going to hell are getting thumbs down. If that's what people believe then why is that so awful?

I personally can't answer the question because to the best of my knowledge human beings don't have souls. In your situation you might as well just tell your friend her husband is in heaven or if that's too hard just say he's gone to a better place which is true in a sense. I see nothing wrong with someone just not existing anymore and when you consider that its the brain that produces thought and emotion not the soul (and you can prove that) then it doesnt make sense to assume that something carries on after the brain is gone.

Just comfort your friend. Spiritual questions don't matter.

I am so sorry to hear this!! I cannot imagine the pain and loss of a suicide and the grief of the person left behind. I hope you will read this link here

This has to be probably the best source I have ever read on suicide.

I do not believe all suicides are automatically lost. So many people end their lives everyday, good people, hurting people. I doubt also that most suicides kill themselves with the deliberate intention of murder, but more accurately, the desperation to escape some pain they cannot see a way out of. God looks for the intention of the heart, over all things. Suicide should never be encouraged and always fought against, for nobody can really be certain what takes place after death and life should always be striven for. However, we should not completely despair the state of a suicide's soul.

A person can kill in self defense and yet not be a murderer. A suicide can kill in desperation of pain, or unsound mind, and it is not automatically murder. You will even find the bible is clear on murder, but not suicide. It is not quite a clear cut case.

The intention behind the act is what will save or condemn a person in their last moment.

God bless you and I hope your friend finds peace. IF that link I provided turns out, you may want to save it and print it out if you can and share it with your friend. I found it the best reference I've ever read on suicide.

P.S thank you UB happy for stating what has been erupting in me for a long time.!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about what has happened, any death is a tragedy but even more so when someone takes their own life. I don't think that suicide stops a person from going to Heaven; lots of the folks who commit suicide have mental illnesses and so have the balance of their mind disturbed etc, why would God send someone to hell because an illness became too much. I don't think there s anywhere in the Bible that suggests someone would go to hell because they commit suicide! I am both a Christan and someone with mental health issues. All the best to you

Where do my fellow Christians get off in giving these absurd answers, as though THEY were making the decisions now rather than God.
John 3:16 tells you how to be saved.

Suicide is most often associated with clinical depression in a younger person or even a healthy older ones. That is an illness.

Would you be so quick to make the determination that they are going to Hell if it were you son or daughter, mother or father, or another troubled loved one. You people who speak in the name of God really should be ashamed of yourselves and perhaps read a bit about what the Bible says about judging others.

It must return and live out the challenges it fled from till it makes it through that life phase, taking it's place in the evolution of all that grace the path toward the ascendants final life cycle. None can escape with such ease as suicide provides, it only delays the process. Thank God I'm on my final life, I'm so tired of it all and it's just plain boring most of the time for me now. I've seen these human dramas play out the same again and again, liken it unto watching a television series rerun over and over again. I'm so bored by it all and I get it this time, my reward is asured in that I need not come back after this life if I can just make it through to a natural death. Soon enough I think; I've begun to grow old now; these hundreds of years have taken so long to go by. Soon enough if God is merciful!

Nothing. We don't have a soul. Suicide is a delicate subject, but I feel that when you've had enough you should be given the right to end it peacefully and with dignity. Because of religion people live to incredible ages and with poor quality of life. This taboo has to stop. It is difficult for the people left behind because we've made it difficult!

Hello ,
Firstly , before answering your question , i feel i should tell you a bit more about me .
We are a pagan couple and we follow the Wicca way .(witchcraft to some) . To cut a long story short , we believe in re incarnation you must live your life in order to attain a higher plane for you not to come back. The point is here that suicide cuts Short this process and it will cause you to come back -to "finish the job" so to speak - I hope this answers your question .i sincerely hope that you are not contemplating it . -Blessings

http://www.near-death.com/suicide.html

This site will help you . These are the Incidences of near death experiences, of people who have tried suicide. Read through it,, you will get good informations to share with your friend.

Personaly ,Im very much inclined towards Buddhism, and I believe that every person has to live through and complete his cycle of life,, People who committs suicide, are desperate, and they find it extremely difficult to live thru life,, How can God condemns a soul which is so deperate and helpless? The only thing is that the soul has to be reborn once again, and has to start from where it stopped,, and has to continue its cycle until finally it evolves into true union with The Supreme Being..

Blessings,,

Wishing you a Happy New Year!

Oh dear oh dear. Much dogma, not much compassion.
Do you honestly believe someone in a right frame of mind suddenly thinks " oh, I'm bored today, I think I will just end it all".
People who end their life must be at a crisis point in their life, mind unbalanced, simply acting mechanically without reasoned thought. How will God judge such a person? With compassion or with anger? I'll leave you to ponder!
