Why should you be terrified of someone who loves you? No good father wishes his children to fear him. The Lord is no different.
If someone has told you to 'Fear the Lord', they have been misleading you (or, perhaps, it wasn't explained or you misunderstood). 'Fear of the Lord' means having a wholesome respect for Him, not fearing Him as one fears a pack of wolves or the possibility of being hit by a hurricane. If you trust and have faith in the Lord, you cannot, at the same time fear him. People who tremble in 'fear of his wrath' have not themselves understood the Christian message: they are still locked into the attitude of the Old Testament which Jesus sought to change by closing the gap between humanity and God. Start, as a little child does, by loving your Father and trusting Him unconditionally. As you grow in His way, you will come to see Him more and more as a truly awesome being. That is what should be understood by 'fear' in this context.
'Perfection' is something that only God is supposed to have. When you attain it, you become one with God. He made us the way we are and guides us (if we listen) in the way to find Him. Quit worrying about being 'perfect', listen to God and let Him guide.
It is quite normal to feel more beset by demons and evil after accepting God than before. Some describe it as the way we are tested but I believe that it's more that we are learning to discriminate for ourselves between good and evil (rather than following rules learned by rote or from a book). Don't be afraid. God will lead you through. Read Psalm 23.
You might also read John Bunyan's 'Pilgrim's Progress'. It's an allegorical description of someone's search for God.
As for alcohol and other drugs, God does not hate them. Most of them were given for our use as medicines. It is the improper use of them which does not follow His way. If he hated alcohol, do you think that Jesus would have made wine from water at Cana or have taken wine at the Last Supper and asked us to 'do this in remembrance'?
If you find yourself enjoying yourself because you are using alcohol inappropriately or too much, then that is not true happiness. True happiness comes when you realise that God loves you and will never desert you and that you are in love with Him. I think Amelie (below) has said very well how it should be!

By the way, someone posted "who told you that"? about fearing God. You can quote the bible itself -
Psalm 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom;
So it is not wrong to have fear of God, if this causes a person to contemplate his majesty and greatness. It's more of an awe.
When you celebrate too much and you feel you lose touch or sight of God, then at some point, take a step back and be on your own with Him again. It is very easy to lose ground, not just from direct sin, but perhaps over indulgence in earthly pleasures which can certainly become a stumbling block to our walk with God.
Again, God created within all of us the capacity for joy and to celebrate life, and if it were condemned, He would have spelt this out. God has already made it very clear what sins would condemn a person, if they did not repent and change their lives.
It's easy to get caught up in worldly enjoyment. If you feel that your losing that sense of closeness or respect of God in those times, simply get back on track. God maybe allowing you to feel that sometimes. It's not a bad thing if it catches us and makes us feel a little uncomfortable. We are not to get too attached to the things of this world, as God knows how quickly souls are snatched away and so often it can begin with seemingly harmless partying.
Don't forget, Satan goes about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. He sleeps neither day or night and the ones he is interested in, are the believers, the ones trying to stay faithful. Those who do not believe or live in sin, are not of interest to the Devil. They are not a challenge for him, he's got them right where he wants them.

happiness is not a sin.happiness with disobeying God sometimes is.we all like to celebrate.but there should always be some fear inside us.this fear protects us .i believe all what God does not allow us to do is for owr own good.ofcourse we sometimes forget that and want more from everything, coz we r human.but think deeper.why disobey?why harm urself?if u think so,believe u will find tons of other ways to celebrate.obsession of fear from God doesn't come except if u really are doing wrong stuff.go the right way,and u'll find urself not thinking that much.although it's a bit childish the example, but it's like if u do ur homework,u won't fear ur teacher,if u didn't do it,then u will fear him.think about it as obeying who gave u many many things,be grateful i mean, think that sometimes u pray for whom u r now disobeying.but he gives u what u want inspite of that coz he is generous and merciful. He is just great.don't just think about the punishment.let obeying God a way of life, not an action.God wants us to be happy.but sins shine more ,joy in life has many other ways.this is the third time i edit after u add info:)U DONT HAVE TO BE PERFECT !!!!!!!!!we r humans.do what u know is right.people critisizing u themselves r not perfect.i accept advices, but why critisizing me?why?we should basically know that nobody is perfect.ONLY GOD IS.it's gonna be hard to get rid of the bad habits,if u do have ones, but that's only at the begining, lil by lil u'll get used to better stuff.let me tell u something.what u r saying now,ur questions,ur words, everything says that u do fear God,or u wouldn't have cared to ask.i feel the u'rea good person from inside, tending to go the right way.demons are around u becoz they know u r good by nature and that deep inside u u want yo obey.if u were bad, they would have left u to get some other good person to do sins.they would have taken u for guaranteed(bad spelling :)).they are trying to stay around u all the time coz they know if u get the chance ,u will listen to the good person inside u.and they won't like to give u that chance.God bless u.

The theories you're expressing are coming from other people. They are not perfect - they make mistakes and just because they say something doesn't make it so.
You are as nature intended - man is a part of nature and nature always has balance - positive and negative.
All you need to know is that you have the power to make decisions about how you're going to live your life. Not all of your decisions will be good ones and you'll make mistakes and that's okay. There's nothing wrong with that. It's meant to happen so that you can learn.
Sometimes learning means taking notice of the bad behaviours of others and not doing what they do. Learn from their mistakes by not making others feel bad with your words or forcing your views upon them...and know that you are okay because you are able to see past that where they are not.
Happiness is not a sin. Look within for your source of inspiration - not to other people and their words. They will try to force upon you what THEY believe. You have the right to your own beliefs.
If it's not right for you, then don't worry about it because one day you'll find something that sits right with you and you'll be very happy.
Forgive them for their limited insight and know that you're okay.

God doesn't accept and forgive you because of things you do/don't do, he accepts you and loves you as you are. I think we get that impression from people who are expecting too much of us when we are children - our parents and teachers. But know that God doesn't look at the surface like them. His standards are high, but if you are a believer he looks at you as if you have never sinned. As a Christian, start feeling free!
Also, it's GOOD to be young and enjoy life, not a sin. Don't allow other people to let you feel that way. Life is there to be enjoyed and lived to the full, and God doesn't expect us to sit at home and be sour instead of going to a party and have fun.

It depends how you celebrate god hates alcohol and allot of other drugs, but they also have there purpose some people end up being chastised into being a better person by the use of alcohol.
God wants you to be happy over all but with out darkness their can't be light and God also wants responsible people in his kingdom .So you have budget what you do. Drinking to much water can be bad .What I mean everything in excess is not good.If you have any other Questions let me know baljit2005masterblaster@yahoo.com .

This is the way religious people feel. We are asked not to rejoice too much; nor mourn too much. Life does not matter that much any way. A wise saying teaches us that "Too much laughter kills the heart". Celebrate, have fun, live your life, learn new things, have friends, fall in love, work, seek your dreams, etc but always keep Allah in your heart. That is the balance we need to strike. Not too much indulgence in life nor withdrawal from it.
Peace

If you are afraid of god, then god is not much to believe in!
God should be something to love and cherish, not to fear, that is the complete wrong angle of things!
