I'm not religious I just try and follow good moral principals and try and lead as good a life as is humanly possible. I do believe in re-incarnation. I can't believe that our mind just stops, there must be some form of existence after death, else how could we remember what we are doing now? I can't really explain it very well in words but there must have been something before for us to have consciousness and memories now. I'm making a bit of a mess of this. Yes, I believe in re-incarnation

Not reincarnation, this term indicates to return to this Life in a different body to continue existence with the same character and personality as before.

I am Buddhist and I believe in Rebirth where after death the constituent parts of my being are dissolved and the 1 permanent part of me my Buddha Nature remains. My new Life is then reconstituted from the 5 impermanent parts in response to my Karma, they are reconstituted in different measure due to the consequences of my previous Lives' decisions and actions, and my being thus reconstituted is then Reborn.

Peace and thank you for the well balanced posited question.

No, whats the purpose of reincarnation when no one remembers their past lives anyway? And for people who do recall past lives how comes they are always someone important like a prince or queen or something?

NO,

I believe that whole universe and whatever exists in it,is the creation of almighty Allah, who created an original Self of each and every element or identity in universe, that will come in front of us in hereafter.
Where this universe is just a projected vision of that original universe, in the Hands of almighty Allah. This worldly universe is the process of test run of original universe, will be evaluated on the great day of judgement before the operation of real original universe of eternal hereafter to start.

The problem with reincarnation is that it suggests we have all been here before a few times, and there aren't enough dead people to go round.

Your civil "curiousity" is welcome. I noted that almost all answers were based on "quotes," (yet more diversified than usual). My belief or disbelief in reincarnation comes from MY inner self, my non dimensional, non-intellectual "circle" of truth. I rely on no one, & nothing, to affirm my position. Then, to your second question, I obviously have no religion.

I believed in reincarnation even back when I was Catholic... which is one reason I'm no longer Catholic. I'm now a Unitarian Universalist Pagan.
