Do you think these coerced proposals result in marriage at too young an age and to an ultimately poor mate choice?

Holla Back Girl, You're answer is both good and disturbing. It's not disturbing that you've chosen to be celebate until marriage, but your reasoning is what is of interest. I suspect, without knowing, of course, that your negative experiences related more to the guys you've chosen to be with than the attitude of guys in general.

It really depends on who the guy is. I know some guys that wouldn't want someone that isn't experienced. But there are also guys that are probably hard pressed Catholics or something that aren't sure about love but are definitely in lust. In order to get a girls clothes off in a socially acceptable way, he just marries her.

Now this kind of relationship just based on sex isn't worth anyhting and is probaly going to lead in divorce or a life of unhappiness. Getting married too soon and for the wrong reason would almost always result in disaster.

Good question. YES, and much to their dismay, his or hers. I think more so in that a virgin will develop even stronger feelings for someone after they come together, even more so if they are both virgins because they will view what they have as something special, something so special their brains will start to rationalize like an addict's does to validate what they are doing. The only result for these thoughts is marriage, whether or not it will work, and no matter the age or readiness factor.

Good question!

It does empower the woman in some respects, although it isn't saying much about the couple if that actually becomes the object of marriage vows.

Look at it more like a statement of character for the woman.

i am trying to do this myself. i am not a virgin, but am simply not giving them any till i am married. it seems like, a guy just gets lazy about things after you have had sex with them and no fooling around is exciting anymore.
