Are Bible-believers so stupid that they think God will cure the sick? The crazy thing is that they will take advantage of technology (surgery, chemotherapy, vaccines, meds, etc., etc.) yet discredit science.

The problem stems from America's geography. Whereas places like Europe or Japan are densely populated and communication is given free flow, the United States is much more sparsely populated which creates all sorts of technological barriers. Evangelists can easily persuade people of the "boondocks" who are denied Internet education, mind-stimulating television and intensive literature promotion. All these factors add up to isolated rural folk who only have the Bible to receive their love and devotion. Not to say that you cannot love the Bible unless you are bored person, but in a sense, biblical literalists only have the Bible to revolve their life around.

Phew. Can some of the people that answered before me throw in some punctuation, please?
Anyway- I don't think its americans. People are desperate for a miracle cure all around the world. Its sad, but it is human nature to find the easiest way out of a situation, and its easy to take advantage of that trait. Faith healers are found all around the world, and in most (if not all, i haven't researched all of them) religions.
After all, if you were told you had an incurable brain tumor, wouldn't you try anything you possibly could to cure that tumor? Even if it was something as improbable as doing a certian dance or saying a series of words? People will take any tiny, slim chance they may have to preserve their life. After all, survival is just human nature.

lets believe i the medical field here it is simple how it works take a pill everyday until your liver gives out and you die oh we are bashers now not thumpers i like that basher hey everybody i am a basher because i believe in something other than what i can see does that make me stupid huh does it am i stupid because i want people to have everlasting life i think not am i stupid because i want to see people to stop fighting and have peace and harmony to be with our LORD who loves them and showed it by scarifying himself for them what would you sacrifice your life for anything i would it is called a soldiers death giving it all for GOD and country come to know JESUS HE LOVES YOU BASHER THAT IS COOL TERM TY FOR THAT!!!!!!!!
