It will be tough, but it will be worth it if you succeeded. Most people do not follow the career they want because it is tough to get there. Then they are left with a career they hate or jump from job to job.
You will never know if you don't try. If you don't try you will never succeed.

If you have the talent nailed down, just get some coaching on overcoming your shyness, then go for it.
I agree with answer #1, your occupation in life should be that for which you are uniquely gifted and will actually get paid to do what you enjoy!
Life is too short and full of promise to do otherwise.
Wishing you well in this, and Happy New Year.
p.s. In the meantime, try a local Community College for the C.O.P.S. career aptitude test- to support yourself in additional meaningful ways as you try to work out the other :)

Your right the business is tough and your going to run into some hateful people out there who will try to discourage you. Just remember who you are and who/what you want to be.
About the audience, in time you well be seasoned enough you will not care who your in front of anymore.
Good Luck and Keep your head up.

Being shy Is something millions of people do. Just do It one day. The response you get may shock you, after that you will look forward to doing so. I sing karaoke and I was so shy, One day I just did It and people were In awe. Give It a chance, you have nothing to loose, and don't stop following your dreams. One life to live and you will never know unless you try. I don't know you but know you can do It.. Go for It, you can do It.. Steve..

Sing! If you love it, do it! Feel the music, close your eyes if you have to when singing, and make it like you're really feeling the music. Don't worry about the audience, they're all people just like you, and if you have a talent you've been blessed with, cherish it. Make the song YOURS. Own the stage and capture the audience with your voice.

Believe me, it's very tough and doesn't get any easier. I've done it before for awhile. It's a lot of hard work. It just looks easy. It's very rewarding if you really enjoy it. As for you pursuing it, if that's where your heart is, then by all means go for it, otherwise, no. Like I said, it isn't a piece of cake.
