My best friend if I can still call him that of 13 years started acting strange about two or more years ago, he started not returning calls, make plans and not show up, drop of the face of the earth and then out of no where reappear like nothing happpened, Then he would turn around and say I am a bad friend.. cause somehow i not there for him..what..I always called him and made the effort..
I found out later he was very depressed so I accepted that and thought maybe we could be friends again.. so he called me recently and invited me out and then he said I will call you later with information about where we can meet and what time.. he never called, I as hurt so i called him a later in the week to see what happened, he was like why didn't you call me, I was floored, he made plans with me, didn't call me and now he was blaming me.. what..so i told him no you told me to wait and you were going to call me back.. then he was like oh your right.. I ran out of minutes...he always does this

I tried repeatedly to discuss the problem it never gets better, I have been a true friend and doens't seem to matter..I just don't get why he making plans and not showong up.. and he has made new friends so he not alone..but he continues to string me along..I just wanted to know if anyone can understand why..he done this twice in the last month and both times he asked me why I didn't show up.. friendship is a 2 way street. If he wants the friendship with you he has to work at it too. If he's not willing not make the effort I would let it go.

Look, Honesty is the best policy. You seems that you really care for your friend, and there's a true friendship between you both, so be honest with him and tell him everything about the way it should be.
A friend in need, is a friend indeed. So, your friend might be having problems, and he really needs someone to stand with him, and who is better than a true friend?!!

Why do you feel the need to still be friends with this person. Either they are severly depressed or are taking drugs. Let it go.
