Brandy is the result of the distillation of wine or other fermented fruit juices. The range of quality is great. Quality (expensive such as Cognac) brandies have a 'smooth' flavor. They can be drunk straight (without diluting) or mixed with water or flavored sodas. Brandy is used in cooking, particularly in sauces. Fruit cakes are often doused with it and can be lit and served flaming! Drunk? How much...it depends on your weight and health. Age group? Old and young. Young may go for less expensive choices.
