Cats are scent-oriented. If possible before they meet face to face, take bedding, a blanket, or whatever they've been sleeping on that has their scent on it and leave it where the other cat can find and smell it. Once they've 'scented' the other cat, then they know that smell and find it easier to accept them. Then proceed as the other two good answers suggested, keeping them calm and allowing them to get acquainted slowly. Good luck!

Introducing new cats to each other
The best advice I can give is to do it slowly. The new cats ideally should be confined in another room for a few days to a week. This way you cat can get use to them being there.
The next step would be to bring the cats together. This can be done by placing the new cats in carriers, then bringing them into the room where you cat is.( That way you can control the situation if the need arises) You should do this for a few days, lenghten the time each time you do it.
Next step is to open the carrier doors, but leave the carrier, so the new cats can go back inside if they feel threatened.
My final word, is an old trick. Take a clean bath towel, rub it throughly on one cat, then do the other one and then the last one. Now you take the toewl and and do the entire process over again. This will mix up the cats scents. Which will also help them to be introduced to each other.
I hope this will help you to introduce the cats to each other. Best of luck to you and the cats.

First, make sure that your kitten is healthy prior to introducing him to your older cat. Before bringing him home, take him to your veterinarian for a complete exam, including laboratory testing (your veterinarian may wish to do a leukemia test). It is best to introduce the kitten to your cat slowly — don't force them to interact. A gradual process of discovery and investigation is best. Bring the kitten into the house in a travel crate and let your older cat approach the crate and sniff, hiss and paw at it. Then reverse the situation by putting the older cat in the crate and let the kitten explore around the crate. When both cats appear comfortable, allow them to roam freely together under your direct supervision. You should expect some hesitation and hissing from either or both cats during their first encounter. Once they seem relatively calm, feed them together in the same general vicinity, but not right next to each other. Separate them after the feeding. As they become gradually calmer, allow them to spend progressively longer periods together each day until they seem to be completely comfortable. Make sure you have at least two litter boxes — one for each cat. It may take a week or two for them to become comfortable, but they should gradually adapt to each other. Be patient. Some cats are less sociable toward others and less willing to share their territory. With time, most cats learn to accept others in the household. Consult your veterinarian for advice if your cats have not become accustomed to one another after a few weeks of interaction.

I agree that in the process maximum situations a woman could be extra helpful. lady-male pairs tend to be much less territorial with one yet another. of direction, you will desire to be sure they're the two fastened. yet in my journey, the age difference and genders are not so substantial as a results of fact the cats' personalities, although i would not advise too extensive of an age hollow. i'm hoping you're making plans to undertake from a glance after. i could consult from the look after team and describe your cat's character and ask them regarding the personalities of the cats there. in the adventure that your cat is quite mellow, for occasion, he would tolerate a kitten or a youthful cat extra. If he's extra extreme-strung, yet another extra mellow cat would artwork extra helpful. Edited to characteristic: additionally, attempt to be sure you may take it sluggish to be with them many of the day in the process the advent era. sturdy luck!

First impressions count. Make sure they're both happy and content when they meet. Make sure they're well fed and haven't just been outdorrs or on a stressful car ride. If they're happy when they'll meet, they'll hit it off just fine.
