(21 + 22) x 45 = 1935. The 21 otters meet 22 otters, and they EACH meet 45 otters, so each one of the 21 + 22 meet 45 otters.

Lets see 43x45=1935 I could be wrong but it says 21 otters and 22 otters EACH meet 45 otters. so if 2 otters each meet 45 otters then there would be 92 right?

Simple there are 133 otters. 21 otters met 45 otters, which makes 66 otters. Then 22 otters met 45 otters which makes 67 otters. Then 66 plus 67 otters swimming is 133 otters.

46 otters. I'm guessing that if you are an otter and you're meeting 45 others, you're not including yourself in the counting. I came to this conclusion because each of the 21 otters are meeting one another, so each otter in the group of 21 meet 20 otters, and each of the otters in the group of 22 otters are meeting 21 otters in their own group, then they all meet one another, totalling it to 42 otters that they each see, they've got to meet 45, so there are another 3 otters, plus themselves. So it's 45 otters all meeting one another plus themselves, so it's 46.
And if that made sense then you're a genius.

I think the answer is 46 otters in all. Each otter meets 45 others so there must be 46 otters in all (One cant meet himself...).

the question is ambiguous for when you say 21 & 22 otters each meet 45 otter - do you mean each individual otter or each group of otters ?
