Religion and homosexuals raising children?

Question

Now, honestly. Is it really better for a child to be shuffled from foster home to foster home, and maybe be abused and unloved then to be raised by two loving parents who just happen to be the same sex? If christians don't want gays adopting, then what do they suggest should happen to all those unwanted and orphaned children? They won't just go away.

Please don't bash christians here. it isn't nice.

And no, homosexuality dosen't equal child molestation. Thats just silly. And there are no laws right now about who gets the child if a heterosexual couple breaks up- what is the difference?
Studies actually show that homosexual couples, when in a devoted relationship, are MORE likely to stay together then hetero couples because of the stigma agianst them. I don't have a source for that outside my sociology class, sorry.

Wonderful question. I am not Christian, which probably has a lot to do with the way I will answer this. If a child can be offered a loving, caring home, who cares who gives it to them. It is much better to have a child living in a home with homosexual parents, than in no home at all. There are not enough homes as it is, so why would we deny anyone with the means to take in a child that opportunity?

One fails to see the comparison of apples and oranges, especially are not all humans, humans ? To equate the values of “two loving parents who just happen to be the same sex” with a criminal is to dehumanize the human condition, and for that matter, petty crimes.

The more pressing question is that of unchartered territory on the effect of such marital arrangements on the child: the issues being part of a minority and the stigmatism attached.

Needless to say, Love is rarely for self but for the other: a child is neither a trophy to represent a mile stone reached in life, nor to satisfy the natural or adopted parent’s desires: should parents have difficulty in defending their position, are they more or less able defend that of their child’s ?

One may only chose the best course of action at the time in all readiness and live with the outcome as responsible adults no matter the outcome.

As to religion, it is time tested with religious parties split into various factions as part of man's making, loosing the real message in translation. With unabated breath, this part of the answer requires the men that represent and lead their faith.

There is enough misery and sadness in the world and abandoned children are a symptom of this.

Children dont asked to be born and if there is an opportunity for a child to be bought up in a loving home so be , hey i would even let single mums and dads adopt if they wanted.

The church had their time at raising children and usually these were done in places that were more like workcamps with the molesting thrown in for free.

I was schooled by Nuns and these were some of the most represed , viciuos and sadistic women you could ever meet..

The church is the last institution on earth that is fit to comment on who and how children should be bought up in my book.

I agree--homosexuals can make great parents. Statistically, most pedophiles are heterosexual, and the greatest violent threat to a child is an unstable stepfather. The heterosexual kind :-) Heterosexuals pose neither threat. About child-safety, see my source, below.

This situation would be solved if there was more sexual responsibility. Since the age of free love, sex has become a source of entertainment, and not a source of love and affection between a married man and woman.

This may sound mean, but it is a fact... most pedophiles (forgive my spelling) are homosexual. This is a reason for caution. Not to mention, there are no legal restraints within a homosexual relationship. If they break up, who gets the kid?
