I am looking for a great tax filing website which will allow to file state and federal for absolutely nothing. Now if it has to be two different sites (one for each) that's fine. Where do you guys go to do this?

Federal:
Are there any sites that don't offer it? There are hundreds on sites for FREE federal filing and each has different eligibility rules. The best list is on the IRS site. Click the E-file link on the left side of the main page. Look for 'Free File' on the next page. I have linked the resulting page below.

State:

The only place I have seen that offers free state filing is the department of taxation in my state. Search for your state name + tax to find yours.

If your income is under about $40,000 a year, look for a VITA site near you. VITA is a program where trained volunteers will do your taxes at no charge. Most sites will efile both state and federal.

To find a VITA site, see irs.gov and type "VITA" into the search box.

A similar program, TCE, concentrates on but isn't restricted to people over age 60.

h&r block sent me a free tax software for federal and state. I can't use it because I use 1040 with deductions and other added forms.
