I have been on a fitness program a year tomorrow that advocates getting control of the no snacking/eating 3 hours before bed. Just like all fitness programs do. The reason is simple. When you eat just before bed, you don’t get the same metabolism-boosting benefit as you do during the day, because a couple of hours after dinner your body begins preparing for sleep. This natural slackening of your metabolic rate overrides any metabolic boost you might get from eating. Once you do get to bed, the only calories you’re going to use are the basic calories you need to keep your heart beating and your lungs breathing and allow your eyes to move in REM sleep. Why waist/waste that workout you finally got to do at 10:00 p.m. when there are ways around this?
You could try Green Tea or Chamoile Tea or even water in place of eating and find something to do with your hands other then put food in your mouth. Journaling is always a good idea and ask yourself why you feel you have to have this food. If it is because you are hungry after your workout, then learn to at least make these healthy choices. You have to come up with a plan that suits you.
Just doing this one thing alone, which was a hard habit to break, but doable, helped me to lose 10 pounds and that was before I even made any adjustment to my other "bad eating habits". Or before I intensived my exercise program.
Do not make exercise an excuse for eating three hours before bed. It isn't a licence to eat. It is a licence to feel better.

sure, it is bad to go sleeping after you've just ate. Especially if you eat a large sum of food. You must leave at least an hour or so after food has been digested.Maybe you can have digestion work faster if you do some strolling after eating.

Definitely, it's a horrible thing because you are overworking your body (brain, stomach, kidneys, intestines, pancreas, etc) while you sleep. You need to give it some rest! You should eat 2 hrs prior to sleep (if that's the plan). Don't develop this habit or else the doctor will have to see you someday lol we all know how that is...

gas can cause your heart to beat harder and it just makes for a miserable sleep.I try never to make this mistake unless im starving then just eat a little something light. most of the time this helps but can cause you indigestion, or other problems , take it from someone that knows ,i have done this alot and its not a fun feeling to wake up with stomach problems are heartburn or whatever.. so yes you really should wait

Well it depends on what you eat - high calorie and low protein
or Optimum protein and low calorie meal.
whatever the meal is, its advisable to have a moderate walking exercise before sleep.
You should be drinking for every 44lbs one liter of water as body is made of 80% water and flushing of toxins happens with the help of water, as otherwise it would be like you don't flush your toilet for several days!!

They say it's unhealthy. One thing I know fo sho is that you will increase your chances of having a nightmare if you go to bed right after a meal. Lying down hinders digestion. Indigestion causes a nightmare.

yes because you are slowing your metabolism down and the digestive system slows as well and the fat from the food will store even more in your system
