Every time I try to plug it in and switch it on at the wall, it cuts all my electricity out. Before I disgrace myself by calling their support line, does anyone know of any really obvious reason why it might be doing this????

If it's cutting out all your electicals it's probably an overload. unplug anything else you have working and see if it still happens. If you're using something to increase the number of appliances you can connect to 1 socket the problem may be there. try plugging it directly into the socket to see if it still happens.
When things just don't work I generally check things in this order
1) Try a different device in the same socket (irons are good as you can tell if they are working from the little light).
This will tell you if it's the socket at fault.
2) Try the frother in a different socket. If it works you know the problem is with the original socket and you need an electrician. If it doesn't work check it as in 1). If neither socket is working then you need to check the mains fuse or circuit breaker. This is cheaper than an electrician. Most houses have circuit breakers now and your need to find the switch which is 'off' and put it on. If you have fuses or fuse wire you just need to replace it with one of the same voltage.
3) If the sockets are fine, replace the fuse with one of the same voltage. If you don't have a spare fuse, then swap it with the fuse from another appliance, make sure it's the same voltage.
4) while you've got the plug open (assuming it's the sort where you can do that) check that the wires are properly connected.
5) If it's still not working take it back to the shop and ask for a refund.
Good Luck

replace the fuse, and try it in a different socket, it may be the wall socket or maybe the machine, i know how it feels when you ring up and they say... oh switch it on lol, but that would be my guess
