When I'm around new people, I'm usually very introverted. Even around people I know, I can still be occasionally introverted. But the point is, I'm not usually the type that sees acting like I know the people as a way to get along with them. In otherwords, I'm normally not the first to say hello or introduce myself. I like to know that I'm not dealing with douchebags and like to gradually get to know people over time. They'll ask my name and I'll tell them but the conversation usually dies right there. And even when I choose to initiate further conversation with questions, I normally get looked at or treated weird as if I'm trying too hard. Needless to say, my introversion tends to affect my rapport with the ladies as well, considering they typically love to talk (about themselves). Meanwhile, people who may act just like me are getting treated with more acceptance than me in general. The point is, am I being THAT rude or are they just being lazy, rude to me and showing disinterest?

Hey blah blah.... there's nothing wrong with the way you are - I usually tend to admire those that just sit back and check everyone out. The cool, silent ones are the ones that are a mystery. Most people that gab and gab have nothing of interest .... usually gossip. I have a tendency to say stupid things or people make me feel that way and I could care less. Lately I haven't felt much for being around a 'new' crowd of people. I feel the more they know about me the more judgmental they are. I could care less on the other hand what people think cause I like myself and feel that those that know me are lucky cause I don't include alot in on me and my life.
Just be you and don't change for anyone!!
Good Luck!!!

I understand; I am socially shy too. But a good way to suss someone out is to open with an OPEN question

eg my name is blah and I enjoy blah's new film do you?

engage imediatly and if they don't come back with an open answer either they are thick or not connecting with you!

Another tip is pick something you are passionate about so if they are passionate too then you are garenteed to connect

I am a rare GIRL Sci-Fi geek so if a Guy approches with Hi i'm Blah and did you see Serenity? I'd be off and asking you questions back! Its about getting the coversation towards what it would be wih your friends in private. Hope this helps. You are only rude if you don't treat people with respect!

I know the feeling. They probably see you as being a snob and don't really know what your like.

I would suggest a compermise. Say hi and smile...so people don't think you are a snob.

Be sure enough about yourself to not care so much about what people think of you. There is a balance in being you.. and being congenial.
