I just came from a divorce and bought this computer in the beginning just to search on the internet, as needed, or for school and now with all that yahoo has to offer, I find myself glued here for hours being entertained. Is there anyone suffering my addiction?

I don't feel like getting out to meet people, but find this very entertaining and good therapy. My marriage ended and I am numb of pain because so much has happened to me that I only care about getting ahead in life, my family and most important, my son not making the same mistakes as me and my ex with our personal life.

Well, my problems are so troubling that I'm having difficulty sleeping, so yeah, I spend the awake hours online, the closest semblance of human contact I can get.

I am married but have been divorced before. I feel for you. I to like the internet. I visit family & friends online. But I have to force myself to do the other stuff I need to do. I am on the computer with my home business too. Just make sure you keep up with your health. Let your mind have a rest from the stress that you went through with the divorce and remember there is others who was and will be there for you. Family & or friends can help you through. If all esle fails shut the computer off for a few days. See how things goes. Do things with your son like a walk if he is near or write a paper letter. Good Luck

yes, i have been doing the same also. 10 months ago, i did not know how to use the messengers, web cams or microphones. the only time i went online was to research something, or check my email...since my divorce. i went to some of those dating places, met hundreds of gilrs and then went to more websites and now i have a network which spans all around the globe. I dont go out much either because most of my contacts are in a different time zone. is this addiction? or is this therapy? i was feeling pretty lonely until i made freinds online, i think they helped my sanity. I have learned so much from so many people in these 10 months it is amazing. Some people go to bars for hours, others watch tv for hours. me i talk with people and learn things, i research my interests...what is wrong with me, you or any of us pursuing this? you should check out this place i found: divorcesupport.com
i found it in month 9...i made alot of cool freinds there. you should check it out. take it easy on yourself, you will be ok, you are just growing now in a new direction...have a happy new year, a new year to take your life in any direction you wish!

Why do you want to get off the computer? As long as you're not getting fat and still earning a paycheck, there shouldn't be a problem. The computer's an awesome invention, yet I still prefer to meet people the old-fashioned way instead of talking to text on a screen. Go try it. Work out, too.

Yes actually. I think that we are drawn not only because of anonymity, but because it is a place where we can express ourselves without interruption. To be able to finish a thought in the real world is seemingly impossible and most people only hear half of what you have to say anyways.

Here you not only get to speak uninterrupted, but people tend to read the full answer, or at least most of it, and we don't end up getting ostracized in the process.

Yeah the computer helps me when I am upset, bored, or when I have problems sleeping. I can't spend one day without going on the internet. I'm probably on it 85% of the time when I am home.

I agree it's quite theraputic,it does take my mind of being unemployed. But it isn't the whole answer. Go to church gatherings and make friends. Time and the lords grace heals all wounds.

I completely understand where you are coming from! Try adding being pregnant on top of it. It is sooo hard and this is somewhat theraputic. I never thought of it that way.
