Many laptops have an S video or RCA jack for video output to TV. If yours does not, you will need an adapter that goes from VGA to S video. Just to let you know, unless you have an HDTV that the picture will not be sharp enough to read small text on. If you're just using it to watch movies, you'll be okay.

As far as input goes, there are USB video capture devices. They're often bundled with software to schedule recordings and what not. Here's a sample one:

It relies upon on the laptop and the television. you will easily want a cable to connect it. verify your television for a VGA in if it has one your laptop would be waiting to connect with a typical VGA cable which you would be able to get extremely value effectively if not and your laptop is extra moderen you may try HDMI it somewhat is a HD cable it somewhat is somewhat extra costly yet extreme high quality. yet another selection is S-VIDEO and in case you have an output on your laptop yet don't have one on your television you may get a S-Video to factor extremely cheep if not then you definately will would desire to get a converter field which will change VGA to factor which would be approximately $20-$60.
