Quite possibly, sleeping.
My husband will not be home, therefore I will have no one to kiss when the clock strikes midnight.
I'd rather bring in the New Year dreaming of my husband, rather than being awake and dwelling on the fact he's not here.

My sister's house in the Bay Area, she has a house with a view of the bay and we can watch the fireworks on the enclosed verandah.
