best way for curling hair?

what is the best way to curl your hair and make it stay in? i have very straight hair and want to make sure they stay in?

K well my hair doesn't stay in curls well either... i've always just showered the night before and then put in curlers and sleep in them and then when i wake up it's all curly but then i can do it with an iron too.. just easier when it drys in curls... but with an iron... it you have to apply alot of tension to the curl.. like while it's on the iron.. hold the part of the hair that isn't wound up and pull on the curling iron to make the curl better.. then hairspray it while it's on the curling iron.. then take it out and spray it again.. it's a long process but it's worth it... and don't think i'm stupid cause i'm 15 and i use curlers.. lol they're cool, come on! lol it's just less work and it stays in longer.. of course you have to hairspray it after you take out the curlers... but it usually stays in my hair for the whole day and it's a little flippy the next...

If you're using a curling iron then you should spray each piece with hairspray as your about to curl it. It gives almost an instant hardening effect making the curls stay in all day!

And if you're looking for a less damaging method, then you can put a lot of gel in your hair after coming out the shower and roll it with rollers, I know it seems really "grandma-ish" to use rollers but it really works if done right!

get an iron that gives you the ability to control the heat setting, and find the one that matches your hair type....

get a small section of your hair and put it around the iron for 10-30 seconds and spritz some hairspray on your hair while its still in the iron, this will help it keep the shape

clean off the iron when its cooled off tho, hairspray residue is hard to clean if its left on
