An idealised or idolised image is given because we want something tanglible to like to blame.
I may be confused. But the pure baby grows up in this world of ours. I agree no one is bad but its the circumstances which influence out actions, which in turn are harmful or rewarding. But it does help in calling things a boon or a bane. Similarly what is wrong in saying God would never want us to be a certain way. Maybe that really is the tree of knowledge. Experience or reactions.

First I have to say that this answer is coming from a person who used to hate God. I know now that I just didn't have a clue what He was really like.
I have always understood that phrase to mean the "physical" image of God. If you look up the word "image" in Webster's Dictionary, these are the first and most common meanings of the word....
1 : a reproduction or imitation of the form of a person or thing; especially : an imitation in solid form : STATUE
2 a : the optical counterpart of an object produced by an optical device (as a lens or mirror) or an electronic device b : a visual representation of something: as (1) : a likeness of an object produced on a photographic material (2) : a picture produced on an electronic display (as a television or computer screen)
I don't believe that our life is all about being good or bad. The God I have come to know wants me to me at peace. I never felt at peace when I was "acting bad", and believe me - I used to do some pretty wild things and at first it seemed like fun, but the fun wore off and I ended up miserable. He allows us all to make our own choices, and hopefully we will learn from them. If we don't while we're living, then we surely will be shown the truth about ourselves when we pass on. That could be a horribly rude awakening for a lot of us and that will be the beginning of our own personal hell. God doesn't do bad things to us - we do it to ourselves by the choices we make.
I hate that people do cruel things to us and to the ones we care about. God understands that we may react to these things in a very destructive way. He will also always be there for us when we ask for help. Now I realize, He really does just want me to be happy. He's a very cool dude really.

What if we created God from an idealized image of ourselves, an idealized image which we made all good?
Also, this requires that there be concrete definitions of what is good and what is bad. Maybe everything is good to God, and it's only humans who try to create a dichotomy of the good and bad type.

u seem to be totally confused.God , the almighty who has created this whole universe including us,our surroundings whatever we see around us and also what is unseen by us humans.well we all use the term that god exists within each one of us and that the almighty powers is in our heart.its true....but this does not mean physically..it is referred to the conscience that exists within each one of us that guids us towards good actions and knocks everytime when we commit any sin,,in the form of guilt.god created us and sent us on this earth with fully developed mind and conscience which would help us in taking the right actions.he is the examiner of all our actions, whether good or bad.it is we ourselves who turn out to b good or bad.
to just quote an example when a baby is born,we are attracted to them b'coz of their purity of heart and innocence, all babies look the same when young, but its later when they turn to become good or bad when their minds develop.
i hope i have not confused u....best of luck!

It's not God who is bad , the only thing bad in this universe is the thought and controlling that thought and going by his will is truth.
Untill you don't move on the path of realization of God YOURSELF , you will be muddled by all these questions and answers,
" FIRST FIND THE GOD WITHIN YOU AND THEN YOU WILL HAVE ALL ANSWERS ".
