Actually they did just that. There is a book entitled "Be Here Now". The author on the cover is Baba Ram Das; however, the book is actually the product of an experiment he and several of his "disciples" conducted. What they did was entered a house and locked themselves in. Once inside they began taking mega-doses of LSD every few hours and continued for some considerable period of time I believe it was several weeks. they had at their disposal many books and many pads of paper and all sorts of colored pencils and crayons and paints. They wrote and drew and painted and all kinds of stuff. Its a pretty strange book but it is basically what your describing. However, just about every religion shows up in it. All kinds of stuff that just flowed from the group. All kinds of iconography. You can probably find a copy of it at Barnes&noble if not at any new age book store.

I'm certain it would feature at least one scene with a burning bush, although it would probably involve a lot more tasting of blue.

it would be at least as good, probably even more believable than the trash in the bible.
