As mentioned by others, depends on your age and interests.
No one mentioned 5th Street Public Market, it's a cool mini-mall of eclectic small shops and cafe's, and not far from it is the Hult Center for the Performing Arts, and the Electric Station restaurant, which is a fine dining experience.

WOW Hall is great for concerts/shows, and the Bijou Art Cinema shows independent and artsy films. There are several live stage theaters, a number of clubs, and lots more.

If you're looking for a fun music scene, WOW Hall is cool, Taylor's, or John Henry's.

Eugene also has great restaurants...Zenon's, Cafe Soriah, Marche, Adam's Place to name a few.

There are also pretty cool coffee and tea shops...Allann Brothers, The Strand, Perugino's.

Also, Eugene still has a few wonderful independent book stores, if you're into book readings...like Tsunami Books and J. Michael's.

i visit place it promptly: Eugene, effective place. shifting? No. I desire Portland extra helpful. The air cleanser and is extra city-smart. no longer asserting Eugene is uninteresting or something, because of the fact its extremely effective, I merely chosen Portland over Eugene. Its much less stressful to get around, and there is plenty (i propose plenty) of residences and homes on the marketplace around here. financial gadget-smart, its no longer that undesirable. There are nevertheless places to get jobs so do no longer difficulty. St Johns (a city interior the Portland section) has extremely some places who're hiring.

To do what? It really depends on what type of person you are....if you are looking for local shows, I would recommend downtown. If you are looking for a really laid back bar that is fun to be at, I would say WetLands.

There is something for everyone in Eugene. Regardless of your political opinion. But it would help if you were more descriptive.

If you are a dork like me, maybe the library is for you. Its nice, new, has lots of space to relax in.

If you like snowboarding, Berg's Ski Shop is a fun place to hang out and shop. The people there are very knowledgeable and fun to talk to.

If you are looking for good food, I would recommend going downtown, there is a plethora of interesting restraunts to test your tastebuds to.

Anyhow good luck, and make the best of it.
