You speak of suicide. My advice would be from both a secular view and a religious one, as a Buddhist some would put me in the category of an Athiest, and yet others would put me in a Religious category....I make no judgement on the matter....I am Buddhist no question.
From a Buddhist perspective then....
You are important...you're Life is important...to Buddhists All Sentient Life (Buddhists use the term Beings) is important.
From a Buddhist perspective, all actions we make no matter how insignificant have consequence for our happiness. Actions include but are not limited to deeds, thoughts and feelings both towards and about others, and most importantly ourselves. Buddhists consider all killing of all sentient Beings as a grave error which has very serious and long term negative consequence. For us killing includes War, hunting, fishing, whaling, murder, the Death Penalty for criminals, euthenasia and suicide. Buddhists consider the execution death of Saddam Hussein a very grave error, for which very serious consequences are yet to be felt.
Why do we consider it thus. Every sentient being has a Life made up of 5 impermanent, temporary and variable Parts called Skandhas, and 1 permanent but elusive and immaterial Part known as Buddha Nature for want of a better term. This essence is in all sentient beings regardless of creed.
If suicide was enacted, this essence would be subject to the consequences thereof, very serious those would be. Buddhists believe that those consequences could include de evolution of the Buddha Nature by a Rebirth to a Lower Realm. Buddhists believe that there are several higher and several Lower realms of existence you see. It includes animal rebirth as animals are considered to be sentient beings. No hunting remember?
This then is the Buddhist perspective on suicide. Christians I understand have a similar doctrine on it. The result or consequence of suicide for Catholic devotees is instant relegation to their Lower Realm...Hell. They believe that this is instant and irreversible after death. A heinous crime for Christians.
For the secular view of no Life after Death then would mean that you know of no further eistence after the suicide, you simply die and your existence vanishes. I'm unsure of the view so can make no comment just to add that it seems permanent and at the least a neutral consequence which holds no advantage, there is nothing in it to reward the effort if you see what I mean.
There is 1 thing to say about your comment though, in suicide you would definitely Not see God, Christian Doctrine is quite clear, you go to Hell not Heaven..
Peace and food for thought my friend, please reconsider this line of thought..
There may not be a reason in your mind at present to stay...but there is absolutely no reason to go...not this way....please....stay....
Peace my friend...from a Buddhist...

From a non-religious point of view, if you like life more often than not, you should stick around, because it's your only chance at existence and once you choose non-existence there are no second chances. Regardless of whether you die now or 50 years from now, you will still have "rest" (not really rest, actually just non-existence) forever afterward. No real need to rush it along.
From a religious point of view, it's usually considered wrong to end your own life, which means you're not very likely to get to see God. If God wants you to die, he will take care of it, and it's not up to you to decide when - otherwise he gets a little offended and its the pit for you.

because it's irreversible--sometimes it's nice to think about, and even consider as an option, but if you actually act on it there is no turning back--besides, what's your hurry? As long as you're alive you have choices, decisions and chances to make life better, for yourself and the people around you. Once you die, those chances are gone and you left on a low point, never knowing what might have happened

To die is a normal thing to do. To commit suicide means that you are a looser for me (for the Japanese means that you act something really proud). If you choose to die, in my opinion means that you are a looser and that you don't have the strength to fight the difficulties of life. Life is a big adventure full of problems, when you fight these problems you become stronger at by the time your life is about to end you realize that your life wasn't bad at all.
Cheer up don't be so pessimistic.

You have been naturally selected to survive, not put an end to ur life i.e. commit suicide. Its how everything on earth evolved. But unusually only human beings have the tendency to commit suicide. No other species have the capability to do so.
Why so?
Probably it is time we started to think about our own brain and the limitations on our style of thinking...
I believe you can't die because everything in your body is naturally selected to survive, and not die...
The implications of this idea. I don't know but you tell me...deostroll@rediffmail.com

Truly speaking, you can never die - its the body which expires and you are the immortal soul in it - in the journey of the life, this body is just a costume for you.
When you experience God, then you need to share the treasure to make the world a better place to live ... which is termed in different faiths with the names like paradise, bahisth, swarg ... etc.

Make a difference. God doesn't want your life to be worth nothing. Save a few souls, make a few lives better, give the the poor, make friends. While you're still on earth, do something meaningful. God needs people like you to carry stuff out on earth. Heaven is eternity. Why visit it early? Won't make a difference.

If you have fulfilled His purpose for your life, you'd be gone.
Plus thats a little self centered. Think of the family that would miss you.
Plus think of how many more people you could help bring salvation to. This will give you rewards in heaven, to make the party even better! Go get that soulwinners crown!
Bless u

Because people need you and care about you. They would be very hurt if you left them. Don't be selfish. If you're depressed about your life then talk to a friend or send me an e-mail and even though I can't solve your situation, I'll at least listen and give you some feedback.

Well you wouldn't see God if you have not accepted Jesus as your Savior. What is so bad that you would want to die? You need to get some professional help. There is a lot to live for.
