After 12 years of marriage finding out that my husband was cheating on me and lying about it. But, I'm happy now that I have my fiancee. I take medication for Severe Depression. I started feeling this way when my parents divorced when I was 14. There is a difference in "feeling down" and being physically depressed.

What's truly irritating about depression is that there really is no real cause. It's not some medical condiction that can be cured simply with a pill or perscription. What wholly causes depression is negativity in large quantities. Obviously from looking at everyones response to your question, it can be many different types of negativity, from grief to neglect, from the negative attitudes of others to just plain lonliness, from failing others expectations to just plain failing yourself.
Depression is a hard road, no doubt about it. I've been dealing with it since I was in third grade (12th now). It has gotten much better, but small scars will always remain. No one will ever understand it until they experience it. There are many symptoms of depression but they can all be summed up into one word, hopelessness. And of course, with that being the symptom, there is only one cure, hope.
With that said, the best way to obtain hope is belief in yourself. Always remember that there is only one preson in this world that can control your life, and thats YOU. Don't worry about that prick who just cut you off, that kid at school who won't get off your *** about simple mistakes you've made, or even people you love who have wronged you, because when it all comes down to it, if they couldn't keep their negative emotions to themselves, then they're probably just as sad with their life as you are.
Depression's tough, but a person who has lived and survived through all that life has thrown at them will be a much stronger human being than anyone who has given up along the way. My favorite quote of all is "Keep hope alive. Kid, you'll move mountains"
