It isn't really possible to learn fluent Spanish on the internet, and especially not for free.

The best way to get fluent fast is cultural immersion. Go to a place in Mexico where no one speaks English and live there for a while. (Also known (by me) as the "Learn or Die" method... lol)

Not for free but the Video Professor course is pretty good. It cost around a hundred dollars. Then there are the cassettes you can buy and listen to; to get the basics down.
i don't know about Spanish classes in school. I was raised in South and spoke fluent Spanish when we came back to the States. In fact I was more fluent in Spanish than English. Figured I would take Spanish as an easy A. I still to this day have not figured out what my Spanish teacher was teaching. It wasn't any Spanish I had ever spoke or heard.
