I'd say that your body was lacking the technical knowledge of how to determine quality jewelry from fake knock offs or thinly plated costume jewelry.

I was taught that if you rub gold on your skin and it leaves a blackish smear that you have anemia. As far as I have tested it, that theory seems to be true. If the jewelry in question is not gold, I have no idea what it could be.

I stopped wearing real jewelry a long time ago because it turned on me and it was real gold. Then I found out I was anemic and prescribed iron pills.

It is possible that your body is also allergic to the type of jewelry that you are attempting to wear. Everyone can't wear gold, whether it is 14k or other varieties of gold.
