If his sister was stung by a bee (or bees) and he witnessed it or even just saw her upset by it, then that's probably what is bothering him. Show him that she's okay now and that though it hurt, it wasn't that bad.

Also, if you make sure he knows what to do if he is ever in that situation (being attacked by bees), maybe he won't be as scared anymore.

Teach him to be respectful of all bees, and that bees won't just surround a person for no reason, that only if you're right around their nest will they be all around you. Tell him if he ever hears a lot of buzzing in an area, to run away.

Here's what you do if you ever get surrounded by bees: run away, protect your face with your hands, and run and get into a car or house/building. Don't try to jump into water, and don't swat or swing at bees. And if he's ever stung by a bee, tell him to tell the grown up that's watching him right away.

Make sure you're calm when you're telling him about this, and be reassuring. Ask him if he has any questions about anything you've told him.

I could imagine being in his shoes, and being very scared of bees if I just learned that they can sting people and hurt them, and not knowing how bees behave or what to do could be very scary indeed!

Good luck! :)

Are the bees trying to hurt him in his night terror or are they just swarming in the room? You have to get to the root of what is actually happening. I agree with another post. I would find a video or book on the benefits of bees and some explanation as to why bees sting.

And no do not show him the Killer Bees movie.

Find a book or documentary about bees and tell him all the good things they do like pollinating flowers and making honey. My three year old knows they are garden helpers and that they are not dangerous unless they need to defend themselves. Also discuss that the house is locked up very well at night and there aren't any places for bees to come in. Tell him they are asleep in their beehive and they won't come to harm him.

I heard this advice on a show: For a week, write down what time he's having the night terrors. Then the next week, wake him up right before you expect him to have them. Keep doing this for about a week, and I think they should stop then. Good luck :)

Try leaving a nite light on so if he wakes up he will be able to see there are no bees in his room. Poor little guy, I'm sure this is a phase and he will grow out of it.

If your daughter has been stung, there probably is truth to his terror.

Instead of dismissing it, you need to have your house inspected. He probably hears the buzzing and wakes up terrified! Originally I was going to suggest giving him a water gun for protection, but this claim is real and needs to be addressed.

This is a very traumatizing. I'm most serious as I encourage you to pray with your son as you put him to bed. Specically ask God, in the name Jesus Christ, to take the nightmare away from your son. God will answer your prayer because then He will get the glory as you and your son begin to trust in Him. God wants us to trust in Him for all things. You can turn this terror into something good as both you and your son begin to trust in God to take care of all of your needs. God is our provider!

you know those net things that you can get to hang over your bed??? they sell really cool boy ones at ikea. get him one of those and tell him that if he has it the bees won't be able to get him. you can also try to get one of those bug zapping things for his room or the sticky pads that catch bugs.

good luck.
