The green discharge is okay for the first day or two (it is a bright green, right) as long as it isn't a really cloudy stinky green. But the not eating and the labored breathing worries me. Are you sure that she delivered all of her puppies and placentas? I would call the emergency vet to be on the safe side, especially because you shouldn't put a nursing mother on antibiotics because the puppies liver and kidneys are not developed enough to remove them from their systems. My vet will not put my female French Bulldog on antibiotics after a c-section unless it is an absolute necessity. They should be able to do an ultrasound or an x-ray to check. I hope that she will be okay.

Dark green to black discharge after all the pups were born is fairly common. As you took her to the vet and she received oxytocin, I assume the vet assured that all the pups and all the placentas were safely expelled before he sent the dog home with you. (Of course, if this ISN'T the case, all bets are off here.)

Heavy breathing when nursing is also common. A small lack of appetite 24 hours or so after giving birth isn't unusual.

Is the female caring for the pups? Are her eyes clear and normally bright? Is her nose moist and cool?

If the answer to any of the previous questions is 'no', take her to the emergency vet.

Otherwise, it sounds like you have a tired, but content mama. If the female ate all the afterbirth, this nutrition will be sufficient for her for at least a day. If she isn't eating tomorrow, do seek veterinary help.

In fact, the best idea might be to simply call your vet first thing in the AM to just talk with them about things, so your mind will be content.

Good luck with the babies. Please find them wonderful homes!

There could be discharge, but the fact that she is not eating and you are seeing a change in her breathing should be concerning. That could be a sign of distress. I would call the vet you took her to for the oxytocin. Let them know what is going on and see if they want to see her again. Did they take radiographs to see how many puppies there were? Maybe you should have that done, then you will know for sure.

Your dog needs to see a vet ASAP! She is may have another dead puppy in her. One of my females did this, but I was lucky and she passed a still born, deformed, decaying puppy. Once the puppy was born, it was normal discharge. This is something you don't want to sit on. Take her to the vet and have her cked out. Always better safe than sorry! I took my female to the vet the next morning (had pups all nite).

My mother's dog did this also, and she had a retained plecenta.

Good luck with mom and pups!

Normally green is what we see with meconium. Did you count all the placenta's while she was whelping? I give oxytocin when the ***** isfinished whelping to make sure she passes everything. Is she lying down for the pups to eat? Have you palpated her to see if she has anymore? If you are not sure, you might want to run her back to the vet to have the vet take a look to see if she is done or not. She probably is alright.

Green is a bad thing, it means a puppy in trouble. I wonder if she did in fact have all the puppies. Did the vet do an x-ray? If not I would take her in and have them check her for Pyometra. If that's what she has she will have to be spayed. Nothing you can do about it. I would launch into a speech but this can happen to the best of us. I rather wish you wouldn't breed your dog though. The only reason to breed is to better your breed of dog. No other reason to ever bring life into this world.

Vet now...sounds like an infection...green is not a good color for female dogs or women comming from their vaginas.
Please take care of her and yourself... [[[[ ]]]]
You've both had a rough time...the vet can help you both relax...

I believe that's an infection, you said you had 2 stillbirths, honestly, you don't know when the puppies died. Call your vet. He should put her on an antibiotic. Be sure and tell your vet that she's not eating. He can give her a shot to increase her appetite. good luck
