Just jumping rope isn't going to do much. Sure it's a great way to lose calories, but it's also VERY hard on your knees.
Try running, swimming, weights, etc.
Also, you don't have to get down to 130 to be beautiful. Trust me. I thought that too until I looked back at those pictures I realized how gorgeous I really was!
Anyway, just eat in moderation, exercise between 30 minutes and 2 hours each night (no more than 2 hours), sleep, drink water, and keep yourself motivated!
Also, step away from the scale and into some measuring tape. Scales get terrifying and discourage, so do it once a week. Measure yourself (chest, waist, hips, thigh, and calf) once a month for a REAL progress.
You can weight 155 and be a size 6 if you wanted.

Jumping rope is a form of exercise so hence it will help you loose weight, especially if you do it everyday. Plus it's fun. You'll lose weight faster if it is accompanied with cutting out any excess food, drink lotsa water (I've heard water helps burn fat or something along those lines) and eat healthy foods. And also it might be good to do some other kinds of exercise too (walking, sit ups, whatever) so you're body doesn't get into a lull of jumping rope. If you know what I mean...

It is best to do cardio in order to lose weight, but you probably need to do it for a longer period of time. You burn 11 calories per minute jumping rope, which is pretty good, but it has to be for at least a half hour per day to help you lose weight. Try doing it for 15 minutes in the morning and 15 in the evening while watching TV or during the commercials! Hope I helped!

When i was 14, I jumped rope about 5 days per week. I worked up to 45 min. a day (slow steady pace jumping) I lost 20 pounds and kept it off. It is an excellent way to lose weight!

Sounds like you have your head on pretty straight! :o) And you're starting out right by wanting to do exercise. Jumping rope is a form of exercise, it's a good cardiovascular exercise that will get your heart rate pumping and you will lose weight. But along with the jump roping you need to make sure you eat the right foods and drink plenty of water, especially during exercising. Try not to over do it too much, after awhile you will be able to keep going and going and going....just like the Energizer Bunny! :o)
Make sure to do warm up stretches & cool down stretches after jumping rope to avoid injuries (like hamstring pulls). And like I said make sure to drink plenty of water, before, during and after exercising.
Good luck!

It will help, but be sure to stand on a giving surface, not on concrete, or you may have knee problems or get shin splints from pounding your weight on your joints. You can also walk for an hour a day, around the neighborhood, on a track or treadmill.
I admire you for wanting to lose weight and get into shape, and for asking for good ideas. Be sure to improve your diet. Cut out sweets, white flour and starches like white bread, cut out bakery products; no sugary drinks or soda. Eat leaner meats, eat salads with low fat dressings, fruits and veggies; don't eat until you're stuffed...eat sensible meals, preferably a few small meals a day. Drink 8 glasses of water a day.
Good luck!!!

Yes it does. To get the best results from jumping rope, you want to have a moderate, rhythmatic pace. Not too fast and not too slow. Do it for about 15 minutes or if you are feeling froggy, make a full 20 minutes and get a decent arobic workout from it.
Good luck
