Yes this is very common. My hubby was treated for heart problems for two years and he was having panic attacks ( there is nothing wrong with his heart )
What you are describing sounds like heartburn. Stress can cause you to make excess stomach acid and this is what causes the burning feeling. Try tums or what ever ant-acid you like. It may be helpful to change your diet. There is a helpful web site the address is way to long so here is what I did. Go on google and type in reflux.diet and one of the first ones that come up is
Good foods / Bad foods For Heartburn sufferers - Acid reflux diet
They have recipes and menu's and allot of helpful info
If the problem continues go to your family doc
Try to relax

I suffer from Panic Disorder and yes, I have chest pain. I go to the ER and everything is normal. I also have the tightning, strange rush and burning sensation in the esophogus but mine can last up to 5 minutes. I also get very weepy and feel the need to get to a "safe place" or talk to someone on the phone or internet until the episode passes. I do have a medication for panic episodes, but usually wait a few minutes before taking it. With time and hard work as directed by your psychologist, they can/will decrease in severity and frequency. The brain is a very complex "Boss" for the body.

yes chest pain goes with it here is why, there is a nerve that runs across your chest that causes pain when you tense up and goes down your left arm that makes it go numb kinda sounds like heart attck huh? it is all a big part of the pain in the a** panic disorder that can haunt many daily. the burning in the esophogus is probably nerve related too worrying your going to die causes stomach acid to back up. try some tums or rolaids for that. and here is the best advise i can give you that was given to me.
when you get the chest pain press on the part that hurts if it gets worse it is rebound pain and is harmless. if you can reproduce that pain it is nothing and you can relax and i gurantee the pain will go away once your brain tells you your ok. isn't it funny the brain never tells on itself? good luck my friend i have been there~

Ya man you are in great shape. As far as the pains go... that is SOOooo typical. Realize this: You are ok. You really are. You are in better shape then most people. Those pains are caused by anxiety and they are real but they aren't going to cause your death. In fact as you relax you will notice the pains will subside. I suffered with anxiety for 6 years. It sucks. Docs kept putting me on depression meds but they all made me worse. FINALLy my doc gave me some lorazapam for a plane trip. Turns out that it stops your brain from making the chemical that gives you anxiety with no side effects. I felt the ever slightest bit dizzy but I was so happy. It was like someone flipped a switch in my head and I was able to be me again. I still have mild anxiety now but I can control it and live life again. Analyze your life. There is something in it that is conflicting and causing your anxiety. My cause was my ex and my old job. I left them both and was almost completely better within 2 to 3 months. One last note: You should change your name to "healthy as an Ox". I wish my cholesterol was that low.

I think you can have any number of strange sensations. If they don't lead to anything after the moment has passed you can usually figure it is the stress of anxiety. There are many different websites that give a wealth of info about symptoms and treatment that you could check on. But to just ease your mind if you normally don't have any of these symptoms then its probably due to anxiety.

Yes I use to have chest pain when I had those attacks and my heart would beat really fast and my chest would feel really tight.
I don't know about your burning sensation--that panic attack could bring about acid reflux maybe.

This is psychological. The pain is real, but it is caused by anxiety. You can have these attacks without realizing you are anxious. I know someone close to me who has this.
