i'm getting ready to purchase a male maltese. i was considering trying to train it to go in a litter box on either a puppy pad, newspaper, or litter (that option sounds too messy with a long-haired dog). anyone have any input?

hey there, I work in a petstore called petcetera. And having 4 dogs myself, ive found that this is the best way to train and break in any dog. http://www.aifam.com?rRChjokxrX
give it a try.

I have a 5 month old Bichonpoo. I planned to train her to go in a litter box. Well she would have none of it. I could not get her to use the litter box. I then tried pads. I had her trained really well to use the pads for poo and pee until about 3 weeks ago. Now she has occasional pee accidents and most often refuses to poo on the paper. This after being 100% trained to pee and poo on the paper. Now she is unreliable and I am back to square one. She is a very smart dog and has been easy to train but is regressing in this area. I wish I had just trained her to go outside to begin with and now may resort to that. Consider this before training the dog to go in the house. Going in the house may eventually mean going all over the house.
