Contact the Union. There is one in your area I'm sure. You will have to complete 4 years of apprenticeship and take a test, you could challenge the apprenticeship and take the test, but if you fail, you can only take it two more times. Also, it is one of the hardest jobs to do. There are many fatalities due to overworking and rough conditions.

I worked in the field for about one year and in that time we had about 13 people die in our union local. These deaths ranged from strokes and heart attacks to falls and ebing crushed by elevators.

The pay is good, though.
