what I mean is, I am just falling asleep or waking up and I have my eyes open but I can't move for a few minutes and it's really weird feeling. I've had it happen hundreds of times.

Yes, I have experienced sleep paralysis several times, It is very creepy. I start hearing explosion sounds, and I wake up from the sounds and I feel like I'm being choked and I can't breathe. I can see the room and everything, but I can't move. I feel electrical currants going through my body as I'm going through it. I try to scream and I can't. When I finally able to move and breathe, I am totally freaked out for days.
Some really scary stuff.

When I Was Like 12 or 13 I Start Having Sleep Paralysis. The 1st 1 I Remember Was When I Was In Bed {Duh} And I Woke Up But I Couldn't Get Up, I Couldin't Move, I Couldn't Talk, I Couldn't Move A Muscle. The Only Thing I Could Do Was Breath, Look, And Think. So I Told My Doctor And He Didn't Know What I Was Talking About He Thought I Was Crazy. So I Talked 2 My Family And They Said When That Happens Say The Lords Prayer. So When They Told Me That It Didn't Happen For A Long Time But Then It Came Back But This Time I Heard Some voices And A White Light In The Corrner. I Thought I Was About To Die, So I Said The Lords Prayer Then I Start Moving, I Turned On The Light And It Went Away. And That Sums It Up So I Won't Have 2 Tell U My Whole Life Story.

I get that once in awhile. I'm aware of myself in bed and feel like I'm awake, but it feels like a gorilla is sitting me. Sometimes I can force myself to fully awaken, and sit up. When I lay back down, I sometimes feel the pressure coming, and know I'm not going back to sleep, but back to the paralysis state. Sometimes its almost like an out of body experience, or that something is trying to hold me down.Had it since I was 12, and the last time I had it was last year at 57???

It scared the living crap out of me. To be half awake and literally disoriented (I felt like I was standing vertical but knew I was lying down horizontal) and completely unable to move. I was unable to breathe and unable to shout out to tell anybody about it at the time. It lasted a few seconds but I never knew if this one would end or I would be stuck there in limbo of consciousness and just suffocate and die.

When it finally gave way to let me have control back, I would bolt upright gasping for breathe. I hadn't ever had the presence of mind to relax and rationalize myself through it. Panic hit me before I could think every time.

The frequency had no recognizable pattern and had no connection to anything I had been doing or done that day. It was random. It hasn't happened in about a year now. I hope it's gone.

I think it may have some connection to sleep apnea.
